Casinos without Wagering Requirements
On this page, we uncover the exciting new world of online casinos with no wagering requirements in the UK. With the casinos listed on this page, you can say goodbye to extortionate bonus wagering forever!
Wagering Requirements have long been considered a “necessary evil” of the online casino and bingo worlds. To the uninitiated, the multiples that players must wager before they can access their bonus winnings seem almost laughable. But for players, they are an obstacle to negotiate. Sure, one looks for favourable terms; low wagering, high maximum conversion, extra bonus spins, a lengthy deadline etc. However, they are no deal breaker.
In 2017, something of a sea change occurred. PlayOJO Casino launched to almost universal acclaim. First, they built industry buzz, and then they took it to the masses with a wild, anarchic television advertising campaign. It was the start of a casino revolution!
The No Wagering Requirement online casino is still a rare breed. You’ll notice the list below is small. But each one of these casinos is significant. They are all trail blazers. Below, we’ll explore what wagering requirements are, and how each of these casinos decided to rip up the rule book and forge a new path.
Casinos without Wagering Requirements
What are wagering requirements?
Wagering Requirements are a condition imposed by the casino on deposit bonuses and free spin offers. It is a multiple of the deposit and/or bonus amount; and that amount must be wagered before bonus funds, and winnings derived thereof, are withdrawable.
How do you find the wagering requirement?
In the past, the wagering requirement was often hidden in the terms and conditions, at least a click away from the bonus offer. However, these days you will often see the wagering requirement (granted in fairly small print) underneath.
Once you’ve found the multiple, then check to see if it applies to the deposit amount, the bonus amount, or both. Let’s say, for example, you deposited £50, and the welcome bonus is a 100% match. Therefore, you’ll also get a £50 bonus to play with. Under the bonus terms, the wagering requirement is 25x the sum of the bonus and deposit amount.
This means that you’ll have to playthrough the following amount before the bonus and any winnings become withdrawable:
25x (£50+£50) = £2,500
Do wagering requirements apply to my deposit?
In the past, some casinos (who we shall not name and shame) have held customer’s deposits, when in conjunction with a welcome bonus offer, to wagering requirements. But unlike a bonus, which is offered by a casino, the deposit is YOUR money until you’ve wagered it. Right?
The Competition & Markets Authority, the official government body for consumer rights, agreed that it wasn’t fair. In fact, the practice potentially contravened consumer law. During their presentation at last years Raising Standards Conference, the CMA highlighted the issue that “Consumers can’t access winnings obtained using their deposit funds until WR (Wagering Requirements) are met, regardless of whether the consumer has “touched” the bonus.”
The CMA declared that “bonus balance” and “cash balance” must be distinguished and cannot be co-mingled. The player has the right to access their “cash balance” and any winnings that derive from it.
Therefore, you’ll now see casinos articulate clearly that players can access their deposit at any time. There must be a clear distinction between “restricted” and “unrestricted” funds.
What else should I know?
There will often be a specified time period for how quickly players must play through their wagering requirements. This will usually be around 30 days, but it can range anywhere from 7 days (especially for free spins) right up to 90 days for more generous welcome bonuses.
Online Casinos without Wagering Requirements
Before PlayOJO, one casino was blazing a trail for casinos without wagering requirements, or rather a 1x Wagering Requirement.
mFortune Casino has been offering a virtually wager-free bonus for many years, but yet the casino doesn’t quite get the recognition it deserves. It isn’t particularly glitzy or glamorous, and because it runs off its own software platform with games designed in-house, it lacks big name titles and recognisable brands. They only have four casino games, a bingo offering, and around 30 slots.
With fewer overheads, and complete creative control, mFortune are able to offer this remarkable bonus. They are the original no wagering slots pioneers.
The PlayOJO revolution
In Februrary 2017, something changed. As we wrote in the first paragraph of our review at the time: “PlayOJO has harnessed the backlash against obfuscating and unfair terms and conditions.” Although it seems a bizarre thing to say, PlayOJO believes that your winnings are actually your winnings. Your money is your money!
Although you don’t get a 1st deposit match bonus, PlayOJO offer a bonus spin for every £1 you deposit up to £50. Anything you win from those spins is yours! A novel idea, we know.
Bgo & the Domino Effect
Did this begin a big wave of change towards online casinos without wagering requirements? At this stage, sadly not. This notion of “your money is your money” is still taking a bit of time to stick. You get the sense that many of the big casino brands are not ready to take this consumer driven leap of faith, at the risk of disturbing the balance book. However, brands like OJO have proved that there is a public appetite and can still be a powerful unique selling point.
A big brand that did muster a bit of vision is bgo. The casino, best known for their Verne Troyer “Boss” character, shifted from regular, wagering-laden bonuses in 2017. Seeing the PlayOJO model reap rewards, they began to offer the exact same bonus. Bgo Casino and sister brand, Power Spins, now both offer up to “50 Fair Spins.” Again, every £1 you deposit, you’ll earn a wager free spin. Whatever you win will add to your cash balance!
We hope that this is just the start of a change in the industry. These bold casinos are at the forefront of a fairer and more consumer driven online gaming industry. We hope to be adding to this list constantly in the weeks and months to come.
