Viking Slots Casino Review UK

By Betty Cherotich, Updated:

For our latest review, we cast a critical eye over Viking Slots. Owned by Elec Games, this multi-platform casino was established in 2013 and is in partnership with a variety of big-name providers such as Microgaming, Netent, NYX Interactive, NeoGames and Quickspin. The Viking Slots website has a sort of quasi-traditional casino layout with a three-column thumbnail format and horizontal navigation. However, the games are elaborately categorised resulting in fewer thumbnails per page.
Lo and behold, we have ourselves a left-sided menu panel for the game categories. Interestingly, the site developers also decided to include a lengthy spiel on the home page proclaiming the site’s endless benefits instead of festooning the valuable real estate with row after row of game tiles – unusual to say the least.
The mean and moody website theme is replete with a beautifully drawn Norse-like background depicting a Viking Warrior, a long-boat and treasure chest. Its dramatic effect is somewhat diminished by the gaudy ‘Get up to 100 free spins’ CTA but this is after all the casino industry so hey-ho. Anyway, what kind of booty can be found within its pages?

Viking Slots Games

Viking Slots games are played in a Flash-based game lobby. So players are presented with grids of navigable game thumbnails and menu tabs for video slots, classics, casino games and scratch cards. All game-play is contained within the lobby so when after exiting a game, you’re returned back to the main lobby area. Search functionality is also included which is a useful addition and demo versions of each game are also available where possible. This system seemed to work well when we visited and there was no hint of lag or sluggishness.

Viking Slots Slots

Slot games on the main site are organised according to their number of lines, bonus games and free spins. This isn’t something you often see on casino website and it seems like a nifty addition. When you visit one of these categories you’re taken to a section which presents all related games in that particular grouping. However, a problem arises when you realise that these categories aren’t included in the game lobby. So if you’ve got a penchant for casino slots with 3-15 reel lines, you’ll have to keep exiting the to check the available titles in the website section – a bit of a pain but by no means a Norse nightmare.

With that fairly minor criticism aside, Viking Slots does feature an outstanding portfolio of casino slots including big-name titles such as Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild, Secrets of Atlantis, Red Riding Hood and Aloha: Cluster Pays. There are 17 progressive available to play including the obligatory Cosmic and Mega Fortune games from Netent, as well as lesser-known titles such as Monkey in the Bank and Geckos Gone Wild.

Live Dealer Games

Viking Casino’s live section is first-rate and offers the usual, classic table games like baccarat, blackjack and roulette. Some of these games include special features not found on other live casino suites such ‘bet behind’ for the live blackjack games. This allows players to join a game, even if all seats are taken. It’s also available for those who want to place bets on other players’ hands. As well as this, chat is also accessible for each game as well as HD streaming.

Viking Slots App and Mobile

Viking Slots is mobile friendly (shock horror!) with a browser-based version of its main site available on all operating systems. Despite a smaller collection of games, titles exclusive to smaller devices have also been thrown in to compensate. The platforms for both mobile and tablet are flawless both in design and execution so there’s not much to complain about here.

VIP Scheme

Viking Slots rewards its loyal chieftains with a VIP package that comprises seven tiers: new member, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, premium and prestige. These are some of the following benefits:

Free games on Sundays
Reward points
Better reward redemption rates
Higher deposits and cash-out limits
Personalised account manager
Monthly cash back offers

The reward point system awards 1 point per £40 which can be redeemed with cash. This differs according to each VIP tier so for the bronze package you’ll get £1 for every 30 points you’ve accumulated (yes really). I think we’ll move on to the next section because I feel a nose bleed coming on.

Customer Support

Customer service is available via live chat, email, telephone and even fax. A cursory FAQ section also features in the support section covering forgotten passwords and usernames, game rules and deposit options – nothing too detailed but just enough to cover the usual queries.

Viking Slots Review Summary

Viking Slots is a fairly typical example of an online casino which lags a short distance behind the leading pack. Its welcome package is hamstrung by the wagering requirements – while these are by no means excessive, they’re also not that generous either. The same can also be said of the outrageous loyalty points system which requires players to spend a small fortune. In Viking’s defence, it seems evident that they’re aiming for the high-rollers. But why not make it that little bit more accessible to the rank and filers? Apart from these shortcomings, Viking Slots does include an excellent live casino section and a large range of games. But if you’re on a smaller budget, you might want to find another website to pillage.
