Desktop and Mobile
Established in 2017, Monster Casino is one of the latest additions to Nektan’s burgeoning collection of white label websites. As such, it is able to run a large variety of online slots and casino games from major software providers such as NetEnt, IGT, Aristrocrat and Microgaming. As with all Nektan websites, Monster Casino has been created with a ‘mobile first’ approach although the site is designed to work across all devices. It’s also licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority and UK Gambling Commission. For our latest review, we’ll assess its performance in key areas such as responsivity, range of games, customer support and promotions.
Monster Casino’s home page epitomises the latest trends in casino site design. On desktops, the entire screen is utilised, with gamers treated to a left-sided, vertical game menu, an enormous header promo that dominates above the fold, and a grid of large thumbnails. Green and gold are used as primary colours and work well with the game imagery.
However, clicking on certain thumbnails or logging in results in the layout changing to a more formulaic, narrow format in which the horizontal menu is replaced with vertical navigation. Apparently, this is Monster Casino’s lobby area and in fairness, it looks as sleek as the full-screen home page. Quite why it doesn’t share the same layout with the home page is however beyond us.
Monster Casino Bonus and Promotions
Monster Casino offers a variety of offers and bonuses to both new and long-standing players. The first promotion peddled in the home page header is a no-deposit welcome offer. New registrants are awarded with a £5, no-deposit bonus which applies to the legendary casino classics Shamrock N’ Roll, Mayan Marvels & Candy Swap. There are 100x wagering rules. Oh, and the maximum winnings are capped at £20.
The second welcome bonus is slightly more appealing and covers a player’s first three deposits:
- First Deposit: 200% match up to £50 + 50 free spins on Starburst
- Second Deposit: 100% match up to £200
- Third Deposit: 50% match up to £250
To be eligible, at least £10 needs to be deposited for each bonus match although wagering rules also apply here. This time, they’ve set the wagering rules to 30x, although these apply to both deposits and bonuses. There are also more than 50 games for which this welcome bonus is exempt so let’s not crack open the champagne just yet.
Account holders are also eligible for a 10% win boost of up to £50 for deposits of at least £10. This particular offer applies to slot games only and is subject to 30x wagering rules.
Then there’s the deposit match bonus offer which allows gamblers to choose between two options:
- 50% match bonus up to £50 (deposits between £10 and £100)
- 75% match bonus up to £150 (deposits of £101 or above)
Active during random dates throughout September and October, both cunningly composed offers are also restricted by the 30x wagering requirement which unfortunately applies to both deposits and bonus amounts. However, that players can at least choose their bonus according to their budget is undoubtedly a plus point.
To keep regular players interested, Monster Casino also features a bonus spins ‘bonanza’ which runs every Thursday. It’s structured the following way:
- Deposits from £10 – £19 = 5 Free Spins
- Deposits from £20 – £50 = 20 Free Spins
- Deposits from £51 and above = 75 Free Spins
The above offer comes with a few caveats that may have some gamers scrambling for the exit screaming. To begin with, the spins can only be used on one game: Butterfly Staxx. Then it transpires that each spin is only worth 20p. But to really transform this into a truly crap offer, Monster Casino stipulates that winnings are to be paid in ‘bonus funds’ which can only be used on a few slots. What’s more, they can only be converted into cash by meeting 30x wagering requirements. Now that’s scary.
All promotions are correct at the time of writing this review. However, please check the Monster Casino website to find up-to-date promotions. Full terms and conditions apply.
Monster Casino Games
Monster Casino provides an extensive range of casino games which are organised into the categories of jackpots, casino, all games and favourites. The game lobby comprises lazy-load thumbnails and an option to try each game out first before committing any money. However, the latter feature only works after logging in. Gameplay takes place in the usual Flash-based browser window and includes recommended games. Popular casino games titles such as Avalon, Football: Champions Cup, Cleopatra Plus and Mythic Maiden are also available.
Monster Casino Slots
Monster’s expansive range of instant casino slots includes a small range of jackpot progressives such as Mega Jackpots, Divine Fortune and Siberian Storm. Annoyingly, the casino slots aren’t very well-organised, with most of them lumped together with the casino table games. Thankfully, a search function is included to help with browsing through the many games.
Monster Casino Live Dealer
There are eight live dealer games for blackjack and roulette enthusiasts. Powered by Extreme Live Gaming, streaming quality is of a high standard. Although there’s not a huge variety to choose from, Monster Casino recently announced that they’d be adding to their existing portfolio in the near future. So for the time-being , slots remain center stage.
Monster Casino App and Mobile
Despite the bizarre dual layouts employed on the desktop site, the Monster Casino platform works well and looks great on smaller devices. Its interface remains intuitive and the games seem to be better organised than its PC cousin. The platform’s slickness shouldn’t be too surprising, given Nektan’s curious ‘mobile first’ strategy.
Monster Casino VIP Scheme
Monster Casino offers what amounts to a halfhearted VIP package. Known as ‘Privileged’, members are eligible for the following perks:
- Cashback offers
- Weekly bonuses
- Deposit rewards
- Free spins
Membership is on an invite only basis so there’s no way of finding out about entry requirements. This is actually a fairly standard practice among online casinos but that doesn’t make it any less annoying. However, it’s safe to assume that players will need to pay handsomely for the privilege.
Monster Casino Customer Support
Customer support is solid enough and includes an email address, live chat, a telephone number and postal address. A pretty thorough FAQ is also provided, which covers the most common questions posed by customers. Sadly this doesn’t include the query, ‘Why are your promotions so unappealing?’
Monster Casino Review Summary
To sum up, Monster Casino boasts an outstanding platform that, despite its little quirks, offers seamless, intuitive gaming. Its range of games, of which most are slots, is also extremely competitive and stands up well against some of the biggest online casinos. Monster’s only shortcoming is with its bonuses and offers which are resoundingly ordinary. If you can ignore these underwhelming promotions, which more and more gamers do when visiting online casinos these days, you should have some fun.Play now
